Song Lyrics (© M Hurley | O•vad•ya

Years ago there was a graphic movie about nuclear bombs going off in the American heartland. Thinking about that, and the tendency of some people to move thru their lives on auto-pilot—until the unthinkable happens—inspired this tune.

Put your mind on automatic pilot;

And your body on cruise control,

And go thru the motions of another day, but

Don’t let them drug your soul (o-ol)

Peel your eyes in the blackness;

And seal your dreams in a jar

And feel your way in a darkened room,

But don’t forget who you are…

Blue tubes flicker,

Rupturing the darkness

Structuring the silence

In a

Put your mind on automatic pilot;

And your body on cruise control,

And go thru the motions of another day, but

Don’t let them drug your soul (o-ol)

Peel your eyes in the blackness;

And seal your dreams in a jar

And feel your way in a darkened room,

But don’t forget who you are…

Blue tubes flicker,

Rupturing the darkness

Structuring the silence

In a million living rooms…

Blue tubes flicker,

Novocaine the present

Portend for the future

Apocalypse is dancing,

Gold mushrooms…

Peel your eyes in the blackness;

And seal your dreams in a jar

And feel your way in a darkened room

But don’t forget who you are

CHORUS

Techezena is the title of a beautiful traditional Jewish prayer. Inspired by the sound of the first word (Techezena) this song came about. However in the uploaded tune, you will only hear a snippet that in our view, bridges the world of psychedelia, trance music (part), hard rock and MidEast elements. Stay tuned for an entire version!

The Hebrew translate to:

“May our eyes behold your merciful return to Zion…”

in the 1948 Arab-Israeli war, getting wounded men in & out of besieged Jerusalem was a problem. They came up with a cable and cable car to be hoisted in the night to ferry supplies and wounded men in and out. That same cable was imbedded in the songwriter’s wall in a dorm she lived in. Thoughts on that and much more.

(Also known as “The Cable song)

Buried (in)to the wall

And hanging high above my head

There is this woven steel cable

And this is what is said

It is pulled down in the daytime

It is pulled up in the night

And on its shoulders

Soldiers ride to safety in the fight

I'd forgotten how I loved you...

But I loved you from of old

Pine and Dill and Cumin..

(Also known as “The Cable song)

Buried (in)to the wall

And hanging high above my head

There is this woven steel cable

And this is what is said

It is pulled down in the daytime

It is pulled up in the night

And on its shoulders

Soldiers ride to safety in the fight

I'd forgotten how I loved you...

But I loved you from of old

Pine and Dill and Cumin...

Beige and blue and gold

And not too far beneath

On the hillside in the scrub

Are two-thousand year old tiles

You can kick as well as rub

Up and down the hills

Are these twisty windy streets

All the living quarters touch

And the past and present meets

Chorus

Still can see that cable

Hang against the sky

It's silently a witness

Of a longing and a cry

That runs across this valley

That runs deep across this place

In years to come as well as done

This remains a sacred place

I'd forgotten how I loved you...

But I loved you from of old

Pine and Dill and Cumin...

Beige and blue and...

Beige and blue and...

Beige and blue and...

Yerushalayim of old

From Psalm 86:11. To the author, it is one of few instances in the Hebrew Scriptures that hints at an ambivalence that seems more common to people in the 21st century. The Hebrew literally asks G-d to “one-ify” (unify) the writers heart. Stay tuned for entre song upload!

Transliteration:

Hor...ay...nee,

Ado-shem, Ado-shem, Ado-shem

Dar...kay kha,

Ahalekh b’ameetekha

Ya-ched l’vav’i

The Rain is a true story. This is just a snippet. Stay tuned for a complete upload!

Billy had a father

And his father was a shadow

And this shadow was a darkness And a stain

And Billy had a mother

And she tried to do her best,

Concentrating on surviving

And fending off the pain

And Billy has a brother

And his brother is an ostrich

And he floated on a cloud,

Where his brother does remain

And Billy’s in the middle

Where all he’s lov

Billy had a father

And his father was a shadow

And this shadow was a darkness And a stain

And Billy had a mother

And she tried to do her best,

Concentrating on surviving

And fending off the pain

And Billy has a brother

And his brother is an ostrich

And he floated on a cloud,

Where his brother does remain

And Billy’s in the middle

Where all he’s loved has hurt—

He is inert (yeah)

And days like this—

Billy’s seen the rain,

The rain, The rain,

He’s really seen the rain…

And Billy has a Father

(Or so it is they say)

That He’s more then an abstraction

Than the man who passed away

And makes him really hungry

For the One he cannot see

But whose presence he can feel

As he’s muddling through the gray

And Billy wants to tell them

(The ones that still survive)

That he thinks he’s on to something

And he might have found a ray

And Billy’s in the middle

Where all he’s loved has hurt—

He is inert (yeah)

And days like this—

Billy’s seen the rain,

The rain, The rain,

He’s really seen the rain…

A song of longing. Received a fair amount of radio airplay and nods from major labels…

Well, the world is a desert,

And it’s dry and it’s flat,
And it’s stretched out in front of your face
And the world is a desert,

And it’s dry and it’s cracked,
And it’s crying out for the waters of your grace

And the people through the ages (though they number as the sand)
Are uniformly dying of the thirst
And they’re looking to their sag

Well, the world is a desert,

And it’s dry and it’s flat,
And it’s stretched out in front of your face
And the world is a desert,

And it’s dry and it’s cracked,
And it’s crying out for the waters of your grace

And the people through the ages (though they number as the sand)
Are uniformly dying of the thirst
And they’re looking to their sages and the wise men of the land
And they’re praying for any cloud above to burst
Yes, they’re praying for any cloud above... to burst

Spinning, turning, black and burning,
Days and hours, and hours and days,
Life and death and ceaseless yearning,
For the waters of your grace

G-d, I am a desert, and I’m dry to the touch,
And I’m weary, yes I’m weary to the bone
G-d, I am a desert, and I’m desolate as such,
And I’m born, and live, and then I’ll die alone

G-d, I am a dry land, standing taut before the sun
With only the wind heard in this place,
G-d, I am a dry land, standing taut before the sun
And I’m waiting for the waters of your grace,
Yes I’m waiting for the waters of your... grace

A twist on the usual “Love Song”

A twist on the usual “Love Song”

A twist on the usual “Love Song”

There’s a giant

Sleeps inside of me

Then you spoke, it woke

Clamored to be free

Now I spend my days,

a- Riding on the wave

That the tail of the giant,

That the tail of the

giant,

That the tail of the giant...

Has stirred up in my sea

And everyone I know

And everything with breath

Seeks some kind of love

A spark between the life and death

'There’s an

There’s a giant

Sleeps inside of me

Then you spoke, it woke

Clamored to be free

Now I spend my days,

a- Riding on the wave

That the tail of the giant,

That the tail of the

giant,

That the tail of the giant...

Has stirred up in my sea

And everyone I know

And everything with breath

Seeks some kind of love

A spark between the life and death

'There’s an ache

That wakes from deep inside

All it took—one look (and)

I had nothing left to hide

And you know, if push should ever

come to shove

Some day may that that giant,

Some day may that that giant,

Some day may that that giant...

Taste your kind of love
