Derian Is also a songwriter and instrumentalist. Her sound flows smoothly between soul, funk, punk, and southern. Derian moved from West Virginia and has been a part of the Asheville community since June of 2022. She grew up touring with The One Voice Project, presenting children around the east coast with a message of hope and empowerment. Since moving to Asheville, Derian has joined Leaf Global Arts as a resident teaching artist teaching ukulele, songwriting, guitar, and cultural competence. Derian is working on writing and recording a first solo album and is plugged into many outlets in the Asheville live music community.

Drums
Isaac McCapers, has been a consummate musician since childhood, developing a reputation for versatility both on drums
and bass. Most recently, he performed with Asheville’s acclaimed band, Sister Ivy. His experience includes playing with numerous
groups, notably co-founding Darren and the Buttered Toast with Darren Curtis. Isaac also

Isaac McCapers, has been a consummate musician since childhood, developing a reputation for versatility both on drums
and bass. Most recently, he performed with Asheville’s acclaimed band, Sister Ivy. His experience includes playing with numerous
groups, notably co-founding Darren and the Buttered Toast with Darren Curtis. Isaac also played bass for his church from ages 11
to 17, drummed for his college gospel choir, and has worked as a drummer in a variety of settings, ranging from church services
to full-scale music venues.

Kim is a multi-instrumentalist playing fretless and fretted bass as well as electric and acoustic guitar. Kim has performed with a variety of renowned Asheville-area performers including Will Ray, Chicago blues man Mr. Jimmy, Peggy Ratusz, Jason DeCristofaro
and Ray Ring; nationally she has performed with/opened for The Hooters and T

and Ray Ring; nationally she has performed with/opened for The Hooters and Tommy Conwell, and performed at a political fundraiser with Carole King. Prior to moving to Asheville in Dec. 2019, Kim was a longtime resident and musician in the Philly, PA area.

Her songwriting and guitar work interested Polygram and received indie label offers and has been on radio around the country. She was featured in Guitar World magazine, Chicago Tribune / other press and signed a licensing deal with Outright Music a few years ago. Her passion for world music textures was ignited in part by elements as diverse as Arabic maqams, living in Israel & listening to classic Indian ragas. She moved to Asheville in late 2021 and is firing up her musical passions there.

drum set, percussion, bass, guitar, keyboards and some horns. He has studied African and Latin rhythms extensively and is well
versed in many styles on both bass and guitar. Charlie played with several name bands in the 1970s and 1

versed in many styles on both bass and guitar. Charlie played with several name bands in the 1970s and 1980s, including 2 years
with Orleans (hits include “Still The One,” “Dance With Me,” etc.), a year with Mick Ronson (original guitarist for David Bowie) and
a year with Robbie Dupree (hits include “Steal Away” and “Hot Rod Hearts”). He has been performing with Samite Of Uganda for
over 18 years and continues to stay active in the live performing and composing/recording world. Charlie currently resides in
Asheville NC.
